History of National Ladies Ministries

In 1953, Mary Cole became the first Ladies Auxiliary president for the United Pentecostal Church International. Under her leadership in 1956 the Mothers Memorial fund-raising drive was created. That first offering totaled $4,930.63. In 1960, Ila Ashcraft followed her as president and continued until her death in 1964. Vera Kinzie served as president until 1994. Gwyn Oakes became president in 1994, and continues to serve in that capacity. Mothers Memorial continues to be a blessing to the thousands of recipients who are in great need of love, joy, compassion, and truth!

History of Oklahoma Ladies Ministries

In 1955, the Ladies Auxiliary President for the Oklahoma-Kansas District was Sis. Ila Ashcraft. She served until 1960 when she was elected as the National Ladies Auxiliary President. Other ladies who have served as Ladies Ministries Presidents and Secretaries include Melissa Anderson, Irene Griffin, Dorothy Still, Donna Shirel, Barbara Westberg, Joan Pendergrass, Valorie McDuff, and Marilyn Garrison. Cindy Hart was elected as Ladies Ministries President in 2005 and continues to serve in this capacity. Linda Nance was elected as Ladies Ministries Secretary in 2006 and continues to serve in this capacity.

The Oklahoma District Ladies Ministries has assisted with many things on the Oklahoma District Campground to include the trailer park, trees, kitchen equipment, sidewalks, ladies’ dorm, snow cone stand, Afterthoughts and More (formerly Country Store) and playground.
